    S60 2.0 t -2.5t info and help please..

    Hi all
After a bit of advice looking for a Volvo S60 gone of the idea of a v70 a bit to big for where our house is located. The problem I'm having is there a tons of d5's out there.and as I only do a 5 ml commute to work. it would kill a diesel.🙁..but I see there are lots of 2.0 t's and the odd 2.4t's.. Are these worth a purchase? Secondly is there a buyers guide on what to look out for on 2nd hand s60.apart from the obvious service history cam belt water pump change etc.. Budget wise would be after something about the 2004 mark manual gearbox..

Thanks in advance for any help

The V70 is only a couple of inches longer than the S60, the front wheels are 40mm further away on the V70.
They're the same width and have pretty much the same turning circle too.

The 2.4 and 2.0 are OK but the fuel economy and insurance are not that different to a t5, the tax is a bit higher.

I think you would be very disappointed with a 2.0T or a 2.4T, keep looking out for a T5

I've owned an s60 2.0t auto for 2 years now and i think its a fantastic car...............not really. Its a decent car to get around in as long as you don't mind the lack of power. Although its fine for most driving, you can feel it does struggle a bit when overtaking up crawler lanes.

Reliability wise it seems to be a good engine, mines on 130k now and doesn't seem to have any issues. Though mines does have the oil changed every 6 months.

I think the 210bhp 2.5t is decent engine and maybe worth a look, but if you do want the power and aren't bothered by using a bit more fuel, then just go straight for t5. Just be aware than anything after 2006 that produces more than 230g/km CO2, then it will be about £490 tax.
