So, front fog lights.

I've got a funny issue here that may be obvious, but I need a fresh pair of eyes.

I cannot for the life of me, get my front fog lights to work. Engine running, lights "on" or "off", sides only.

When I press the front fog light switch, the little green light on the switch comes on and I can hear a relay clicking when I press it. All fuses with foglight next to them seem to be intact (I pulled them out and checked that they're not broken) but still no power at the fog light bulb holders.

What have I missed?

If not, I guess I'll just have to go over the back roads WRC style

Don't know of any common faults, can you trace the wiring back & check it with a multi meter to see when the power stops/starts

That's what i just did on my Mazda due to lack of side light & indicator on one side. Turned out to be corroded connections inside a multi-plug

have you checked the fogs are connected on my old car someone had disconnected them probably to have the bumper off and then neglected to reconnect them

haha yes I have checked they are connected, my last 2 cars had them disconnected and they worked after connecting them.

I've checked the plugs and bulbs at the holders and they're clean with no corrosion. I do have some dodgy bulb holders at the back though. Wouldn't surprise me if there is a multiplug further back that could be at fault, as very occasionally I get a " LH dipped beam failure" message and the bulbs are always on when I get out to check them.

In reality, I'll probably end up making my own circuit up and wiring it to the original switch anyway!

I'm going to be retrofitting fog lights to my S60 shortly. There's a fuse (number 18 in the drivers side dash fusebox) and a relay that is located in the relay box under the steering column (located in position MI11). The light will work on the switch once the fuse and relay are installed, but there is a software update that you can only get from Volvo or a VIDA licenced premesis. This software update basically activates the fog lights (tells the CEM about their presence). If your fog lights have never worked, this might be why.

Absolutely...... I second that!!

The clicking you hear is just the relay energising and moving the armature. The contacts could be burnt out or just electrically contaminated. Meaning, no high current will pass and the fog lights won't work!

First thing I would replace is the relay, if you have no feed from it... to the lights; Before trying to route your own wiring and stuff......time consuming if done properly, otherwise it will be a bit of a retro fit bodge.

Where is the relay? I guess it can't be far from the button as it sounds like it's in the dash right behind it.

The relay is behind the drivers knee roll. You need to remove the two T25 torx screws so you can take the panel off above the pedals. You will find the relay in position MI11. Probably the easiest one to get at
