S60D5's What are they like to own?

Are the S60 D5's quiet when on the move, or do they sound like a taxi???
And, after being RICA'd, do they have similar poke to a T5???? Id imagine the motorway blasts are quite good, but what about take off's etc etc. Just gaugeing whether to get one, or a lovely C70 I've seen
    Thankyou, Goodnight....much love

    Go and try one!

I can only comment on the standard D5, as mine has yet to be 'Adamised'.

Off the line, the power isn't brilliant, but they have more torque than the standard T5 so mid-range is superb, once Adamised I would imagine they would absolutely fly.

The noise isn't very intrusive apart from when it's just been started from cold and obviously at a standstill... I actually like the diesel noise when accelerating... it sounds more butch than any other diesel I have been in or driven.

Oh yeah, and if you're very careful on the motorway you can get 65-70mpg, so some nice cost savings on fuel to be had too!!

At Donnington Park, my S60 D5 was timed doing 0-60 in 7.2 secs. I posted a dyno chart before showing the D5 sports tune, and rest assured even the normal tune is more than a match for a stock T5.

If you drive to us, the price is £531 inc VAT with the VolvoT5.co.uk discount.

Alternatively you can go to our installation centre in Preston and have it done there.

Yes, Preston can do all the 1999 and later cars (except the classic S/V40 models).

In terms of diagnostics capability, they are one of the best in the UK. Diagnostics is what they specialise in.

I had a V70 D5 and very pleased, in gear performance impressive.
I fitted a Powerlink tuning box and it took power to 195bhp 400nm. Front wheels would often scrabble for grip from take off.
Generally very refined although fairly obvious a diesel.
I bought mine after taking in my V70T (200bhp) in for a service and the loan car was an S60, I was so impressed I ordered one!

Okay I see the power and torque figures for the Euro IV.

Where can I see the in-gear acceleration figures - ideally after D5 standard vs "Adamised" vs standard T5 (former 2 will suffice).

    GL420CDi - "monster truck with 7 seats" . S60 SE EUIV DIESEL - Commuting .
Honda CBR1000 aka Fireblade - "mid life crisis"
