    Which air filter???

    Hi guys,

as the title suggests, which air filter do you guys recommend?
I've been looking at BMC, Pipercross, K&N and ITG.

I know my C30 is only a 1.6 diesel, and if I want big gains then I ought to get a bigger engine but atm the 1.6 fills my needs.

I'm after that intake sound and to help the breath more freely, I've also looked at exhausts but I can't seem to find a lot out there other than universal back boxes and Powerflow.

I don't have a massive budget, but any help to stop me buying ££££e would be spot on

I'm not sure anyone on here has a 1.6 diesel to give you airfilter advice on.

I (nearly) always use K&N, don't know if they're better, just personal preference.

i had a K&N 57i (cone filter) on the T-5, as you say it sounded nice but no performance difference. Changed to a Pipercross cone (don't bother with the Viper) & could feel the revs were freer

Thing is, if you increase induction noise, where a petrol turbo gives a whoosh when you let off the throttle, the derv engines seem to just squelch.

The more I look on the net the more I'm like a kid in a candy store lol

What size turbo could I go for before I have to start thinking about tinkering with the internals?

Would just stick with a panel filter. In general few induction kits offer any gain, usually end up decreasing power.

I'd stick with the original personally, induction noise is minimal on a turbo diesel and there are no performance gains to he had by fitting a cone either.

Just get yours remapped and you'll be happy with the power.

My had an ITG panel filter fitted just before I bought the car, I've checked it out and seems quite basic construction for the £60 invoice, but nothing to compare it with for performance or noise.

    What remap would you recommend??

Are plug-n-plays OK or would a rolling road remap be advisable?

Is this 1.6 the same as the Mazda/ford unit?
I have a mate with a bluefin on his Mazda 1.6d. It go's much better.
I wouldn't bother with a cone, just a panel filter.

Yeah plug and plays will be fine, justice to a reputable tuner and you will get good results
