Hi there, what would be the best code reader to buy, something good but not overly expensive.

    cheers

forget everything else just buy a icarsoft 906

does everything from 96 obd2, and it clears all codes so far from abs to airbag and give live lambda info as well.

    £80 plus postage

just pop it in your glovebox and no hassle, I have dice \ vida as well, but I use the carsoft on the p2 as first port of call if any issues.

If you have a compatible ECU and a smart phone then I can also recommend ELM327 (blue one about £4 off Ebay) bluetooth connected to Torque App on your smart phone.

This works with my 850 very nicely, but I am running an M4.4 ECU from a later model.

I know it worked with a 2003 S60R, although it was using the slower protocol as the CAN protocol wouldn't initiate (later found a workaround, something to do with a CAN wakeup command that has to be sent first) so the live data refreshes slower. The code reading works the same just takes a bit longer.

Bluetooth elm327 readers are £5 to £10 on ebay and torque app is around £4 (can't remember)
