Angry ANY hints as to why my POS is still running like crap?

well the V70 is heading for the crap yard shortly she needs to get me to DEVON in 2 days and still engine light on and NOW LOOKS like the new turbo is blown!

    So far fitted
    NEW TURBO
    ALTERNATOR
    EXHAUST SYSTEM
    ETM

I bought the car with a blown turbo and shagged exhaust - NO advisories of any type and no engine lights. Drove back from Wales like a dream (except no power and smoke) so by simply putting some new parts on - Ive screwed the car! WTF have I done to cause this???? so many flipping vacuum pipes even the RAC bloke wouldnt touch it. I asked the local garage how much for diags and a fix and got the BIG intake of breath and sigh OHHHHH BLIMEY MATE - £££££'S

Now ROUGH IDLING (even after the new ETM I just fitted) up to 4000 RPM SURGING.
SMOKING AGAIN and oil pissing out of the intercooler pipe so TURBO GONE!
SMOKE FROM OIL FILLER (but PTC is clear and PRV)
STRONG SMELL of unburnt petrol and backfiring into turbo (like an anti lag sound) just waiting for flames out the back now!

basically the engine is SCRAP. Ive already spent more than the heap is worth on it so thats it TOTALLY FECKED OFF.

My reliable C70 is DEAD with no MOT ( front brake imbalance) so the Devon holiday is finished PLUS I get charged for the hotel as well.

NICE - VOLVO - you have crapped your 100% record with me for 'reliability' DEFINITELY NOT RELIABLE

    FUMING is not the word!!!

    GOING BACK TO BMW!!!!!!!!!!

TAKE A DEEP DREATH. Hire a car & go on holiday. Come back & start again. Personally I'd be getting it trailered to a Volvo specialist & get the work done by someone whose familiar with the cars. Good luck

p.s. these guys don't look a million miles away: http://www.at-automotive.com/volvo-specialist.php

Sounds like an awful run of bad luck and maybe a fresh start is good after the holiday.

ooh no it was clogged with oil but its been to Kent and back without a stutter then then engine light came on Dave. I thought a good motorway burn would purge the CAT.

MY LAST HOPE to overhaul my lovely reliable C70 and try for the MOT again. The bloke hinted if I did this he would pass it!! 2 days to rebuilt or the woman is leaving ! (hmmm might not be a bad idea to NOT fix the car) lolName: 017554fb0cec2b3c40078d9a14a5a1165779128e74_00001.jpg

I replaced the ETM on the P2 as it seemed the only fault remaining - I bought a second hand one which is all I can afford - and looks like it was already shagged. The car is now UNUSABLE its lethal the revs suddenly SHOOT to 4000 and if youre not ready on the clutch its off like a missile.

All hope now remains with the C70 passing the MOT then the V70 goes in storage until I calm down enough and have some money to try to save it - if not its gone and I'll get another V series estate my last one WAS reliable the P2 is over complicated and frankly PANTS and expensive to fix my mistake buying it - NEVER NEVER AGAIN buy a 'fixer upper' I got well ripped off buying it cheap

ETM needs to set up to the car, I think cant remember what volvo call it its a setting on vida.
Have you removed the battery cable to reset the ecu then let the car run to re learn ,as this can help if you have fitted a new ETM.

Ps where in Devon are you going & hope you have a good un.

Just up the road from the Cider bar is Teign Cellars, good food and huge range of beers etc, always got a special on offer at LOW price and it will be a good beer not just cheap rubbish!
I'm in Newton Abbot as well so might be able to join the party!
Just remembered, Cider Bar does rolls at lunch times -cheese and onion or ham and pickle, hand cut and nearly as thick as the bread!
    S60 T5, 2001 in the garage for weekend, V40 2.0T 1999 to get to work, had a 440 Turbo 1990 before that. I like turbo Volvo's!

left the battery off last night when Stribo came up and reconnected this morning and left the car to sort itself out for 20 mins ENGINE OFF

started and so far ALL error codes gone including the little engine outline light and ENGINE SERVICE and BRAKE SERVICE

    BUT

    one minor one has appeared

    PARKING LIGHT BULB FAILURE???
checked all the car lights all working - do these cars have one of those little red light to park on the pavement at night like some Fords used to or what is this??

Well, that's a step in the right direction. Not sure on the parking light though, there's no little red light.

This is for a 2002 car, but might be the same?

    From here
    http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/.../02v70_08a.htm

corrosion on the bulb contacts can make the bulb failure warning come up even if the bulb is working

    good luck with the c70.
the parking light failure, was it definitely Parking light and not Position light? if position light it will probably be one of TWO bulbs per side in the rear clusters. hardly noticeable at first.

Thoughts on the v70 would be throttle pedal fault but you really need to get it plugged in to VIDA. it really is your friend with a 2000- volvo.

Although as Dave say's, if the turbo was knackered and blew oil down the exhaust it's likely the CAT is shot.

When you fitted the new turbo did you remove the exhaust manifold? if so have you put the new gasket on the right way round?

    does it boost?

On the ones with the newer tear light clusters there are marker bulbs on the sides of the units at the bottom.

    Just a thought.
