    The 740 daily driver powerhouse

Hi welcome to my thread for my 740 2.0 GL manual.

I picked up the car last week with 10 months mot. It's not a minter but it's pretty solid main points are below

Interior is really grubby and a little tatty

Needs a stage zero and cam belt, but I believe it is a non interference engine (?)

Boot doesn't open from the outside so you have to open from the inside.

Weird squeaky sound from what I think it's the fuel pump but it doesn't cause any issues

    Fuel gauge doesn't work

Severely knackered inner tie rod which I have the replacements parts for but will probably fit over the weekend

I gave the tank an oil change on Saturday and the old oil was like water :/ also attempted the boot fix but to no avail so I will remove the lock and try to un seize it.

    Anyway here's some pictures;

found this is a crevis which someone must have dropped

    Intake pre heater missing

made a bit of a mess

found this in the boot which had a broken clamp so stuck that back on the rear exhaust which diverted some of the exhaust drone

love that front end of squareness

Looks good mate good scrub up and itll be sound. yes redblocks are a non interfeirance so even if you snap a belt youll just get a stall n tow home. the squeaky sound may be the tank getting low on fuel. my fuel pump starts making noise if it dips into the red. so brim it n see if it goes away?

i have a few parts stored at mine that are useless to me wheel trims etc so if you want anything give me a pm

Not all redblocks are none interference lads .check what cam it uses first .the t cam engines are non interference and I think the a cam engines are too .but the v and k cam engines are interference .

So I'm going to be doing a road trip around the UK with the missus in this car at the end of August so I plan on giving it a full service, gearbox oil, diff oil, coolant, cam belt, PAS fluid.

Is there anything else I have missed?
