    Headlight beam keeps dropping

With it being summer I don't usually need my lights on. Last night I was driving home in the dark and noticed my beam fell to the ground and then it would auto correct up again but then it would fall off at random over and over not sure how long it's been doing this, please don't say my headlights are goosed, I find it strange how both do it at exactly the same time.
Oh and to top it off my chassis service light came on yesterday too!
    Thanks
    Martyn

I would guess the rear level sensors at the rear of the car have come loose or failed.

Steve Sharkey had this problem, I think they just needed recalibrating, but as Harvey said, could be the sensor.

So hopefully not a big deal. I need to get the car booked in then. My cousin has my diagnostics just now so I will read the car first.
    Thanks

I know the transit workhorses where less problematic.
But I did have to buy a new battery for the Lux and headlamp bulbs and i'm not even home yet.

It will be one of your rear level sensors Martyn. One controls headlight level the other controls rear suspension movement for SUM, I can't remember which.
If you look on my Thread you'll see what I had to do to fix mine. Its a common failure of the link arms. They seize up!

One thing I will say, once the arms are replaced and sensors, if needed (they are very cheap)....the handling of the car REALLY improves!!!

So will that be why I have my chassis service light on? I have heard a pretty loud crack from my OS front end twice since having my brakes done, I don't think it's anything to do with the brakes.
    Thanks

I could be when it was up on axle stands when the suspension was relaxed it's stressed one of the parts as it was beyond its normal travel ?.

Exactly what Harvey says. The suspension would have been hanging and this places the level sensors to their max setting. This alone could have broken the connecting rods or worse case, sheared the blind rivet holding the sensor.
That will put your chassis service warning on especially if it affected the suspension level sensor and not the headlamp level sensor.
They are both fitted to the same location on either side of the car and are both identical with the same linkage.
It will become clear if you read my thread mate. There are lots of photos too.
