    Petrol woes

I was driving home today in what I can only describe as CRAP traffic(again) and noticed a little light on the dash..... no not the one your thinking, it was the pretrol light(again). My car seems to be eating the stuff lately and I'm getting sick of feeding it. With this in mind I'm thinking of getting shut in the near future and buying a diesel.

So my question is how much can I expect to pay for a semi decent S60 D5???, if I'm going to have to drive a diesel spitter then I want something reasonably quick(i.e. no tractors!).Any and all help appreciated guys.

Believe me I'd rather not but I just can't justify the continued expense, there is nowhere I can give the car a good run around here without having to drive it like I've stolen it!. If I'm gonna have to crawl my way to work every day at 30mph or less then I may as well do it at around 50 mpg rather than 20. I dont think this will stop me having something stupid for sunny days and weekends though....

21mpg is appalling. I can rag mine all day and still get 24. 28 is very attainable if I'm a bit more sedate.

Sure yours ain't broken in some way? Do you do a lot of town stop/start stuff? Obviously with the weather at the moment it's worse...

Just trying to think what might be the reason for the low mpg...?

Round here its all stop bleedin' start... there's very little chance to stretch its legs. Having said that when I do get a gap I do give it plenty of stick.

LOL Im getting on a tank full (£57) 28.5mpg and thats a mix of town and very fast A-roads. If i drive like a granny for a tankfull, then, iirc 32 is attainable but only just.
