does a DPF need a reprogramming?

Hi guys, i have volvo S80 2008 185hp 2.4 D5 automatic. My mechanic told me that the car needs a DPF. I've found one second hand the seller told me there is no need to reprogram the DPF. I didn't buy it yet. What do u think guys. I'm confused. Thanks

On the vauxhalls we do at work once they have been re-gend you have to reset the interval timer but in all honesty i dont think its possable to tell the car its got a 2nd hand dpf think it would be a matter of fit it regen it and start the cycle again

Nope,just reset via diagnostic,thats all.Did mine on the same engine.Depending how much soot and back pressure u have its possible to fix without any spanners involved like mine which had no power at all when I got it.
