An old Philishave is supposed to work well also
When I first heard this trick years ago I struggled to believe it but it really does work doesn't, great.
Another way is with sandpaper, just gently drag it over the surface, like 400grit will do.

Electrical shaver works a treat. Use a good quality upholstery cleaner (BMW do a good one) first to lift the pile then once bone dry go over a couple of times with shave & voila, new looking alcantara!
