Not a lot done over the past few days, spent a little time cleaning today in prep for shakey. Really highlighted how badly the alloys need a refurbished so that's on the cards over the next few days with some paint in the garage. also have a parrot fitted for some mod cons and also fitted my blackvue hd camera.

Tomorrow is turbo oil return seals and as smithy would say "tighten the actuator!"

theres a story about those wheels. and why i changed them to my good propus. when i first got the car they were absolutely caked in brake dust like not washed in a long long time. my dad put brake dust deposit removed on them while i was doing the interior. and when jet washed off it took the crappy re-paint paint clean off! ooops. so banged my propus on the car n forgot about um looking really good though.

(will get that tow ball to you when my cars back mobile as atm im a sitting duck!)

So a little more progress today...

By now means a professional job but alloys off, sanded down and sprayed up. Took about 5 hours to do over the last two days. Went for a close to standard colour in the end and as I had most bits in the garage the whole job cost £15 in paint. They're not mint but the main bubbles sanded away and less flakey paint! It'll do until I have funds for a pro refurb.

Whilst off I noticed a little treat too, polly wishbone bushes!

So so far I know the car has the following:
    -BSR Cat Back
    -IPD Air Intake Kit
    -Polly Top Mount
    -Polly Gearbox Mounts
    -Polly Wishbones

I've got a 16T sourced which hopefully will go on over the next fortnight, some blue injectors, Genuine Volvo Reverse Pipe Kit and 3" Throttle and ported manifold in the garage. Hopefully these with a decent map, blitz controller and some bigger brakes will make for a nice combination.

    Some pics:

You know what mate if you did I completely forgot! Well that is a bonus and saves some spannering and ill do the turbo oil return pipe on saturday then as I had saved it for the 16T

I think the wheels just tone down the "very black" look it had before. Just aiming to make her look as standard as possible but with all the right tweaks to go a little faster, handle sharper and stop better.

I did notice the CAT was unusual and recalled you saying you had to fit one.

Do you know what type it is or where it came from as its certainly not an original for a T5 as its far too small.

Cheers mate, they look better in the pictures believe me. For £15 and a few hours work though I'm happy, close up you see the imperfections. Before you could see how bad the wheels were from a mile off at least now from a distance they look ok!

Don't make it look too good for shakey as it will make my olive look even worse than normal, I am considering coming in the Gul as we'd have all three T-5R colours then, as long as jimbob brings his olive

Another productive weekend with help from Jamest5r too

This weekend was by far one of the most productive and its all going to slow down for a while now until next month.

    Jobs done:
    -Turbo heat-shield removed!
-Visited HLM and fitted new 16T actuator as old one was cream crackered
-Car mapped by Shem at Shemtek Racing
-Picked up and fitted Stut brace from nottsgreen.

Tonight after returning from Shakey I went to remove the Orange injectors and fit the blues as Shem advised doing so with my map, removed them and lost a manifold injector seal down the back! Doh... anyhow I had a ported manifold and 3" throttle sat in the garage so as the inlet needed to come off anyway it seemed rude not to

Next on the list is fit RIP kit. That'll likely be next weekend, most parts in the garage jst missing one silicone reducer to order.

    Great job on the wheels!

Could you tell us what paint you used and how many coats of each?

    Thanks

    Thanks Redbrick, no problem.

The actual colour believe it or not was Halfrauds Steel wheel paint bought on the trade card.

Used plenty of sand paper, rough bubbled bits done with 40 grit and all else with 120 which was smooth enough with the high build primer.

Each wheel had two coats of primer one yellow high build primer and one normal grey followed by two coats of top coat and a generous amount of lacquer.

As I've said before they are not perfect but for little money are greatly improved. Time will tell how long it lasts...
