S90, maybe T6 at some point

As I'm ill and can't help myself, when I was offered an S90 I couldn't really say no!

So today, I took delivery of a '97 3.0 auto in various shades of green.

The seller very kindly drove it all the way from Portsmouth to Manchester for me and after washing all the salt off looked like this:

Long term plans are to maybe slot a T6 engine between the struts, but for now I have a bit of a to do list.
From an hour poking at things this afternoon, I have:

Seems to be running on 5 cylinders, hopefully just a lazy coil pack or two.
    Rad fan doesn't work.
Overheated ATF, hopefully just a change of fluid.
    Many suspension bushes.
    Strut top mounts.
A few bits of interior trim, airvents/surround, speaker grille etc.
Front seats are very tired and driver's seat has started to tear, also won't move down properly.
Replace indicator stalk (came with car)
    Sunroof only tilts.
    Headlining sagging behind sunroof.
    Elec aerial doesn't work.
Replace cracked headlight (came with car)
Repaint mismatched front wing, also paint front/rear bumper, driver's door, boot, bonnet... Someone's gone around the car with the mismatched rattlecan and painted a bit on each panel... Why... Just why??!!

That should keep me out of the pub for a while!

I think I'm going to do the Screwball rally in it later in the year, then take it off the road for hopefully the T6 conversion.

For now though, here's a couple of pics from when it met a couple of the others at Sideways Towers:

    Not that I know of.

I know that there are issues with the steering collumn, also that the engine mount sits slap bang in the way of the standard manifold.

    I guess time will tell

Can be done with selective use of pistons, crank, exhaust valves (sodium filled), etc.
Plus, apparently the B6304 blocks don't react too well to boost. Presumably splitting liners, as I would have thought they'd be the same size as the 2.5 T5s.
    The T6s are all 2.8 or 2.9

By the time I've done all that though, I may as well use a T6 lump.

Plus, I just happen to have an S80 T6 knocking about that I can rob the engine out of

    Lol.

Just need to pry the keys out of my Dad's hands first!

I'll keep my eye out for something else for him to potter about in / crash / kurb the wheels / generally treat like ££££e even though it's not his car, a bit closer to the time I'll be looking to start the conversion.

Like I said, I'll hopefully be doing the Screwball Rally in it in September (week after York if memory serves) so won't be in any sort of position to start before then.

    No, I really can't!

Seem to remember Jamesy having the same idea at one point.
He ended up facing the harsh realisation of sanity (briefly) and moved it on. His was in much better condition too!

    Cheers Adrian.

The Screwball rules say that the car has to be purchased for less than £700, but after that you can spend what you like.
Gonna post up a thread about it, see if anyone fancys giving it a whirl.

God knows how much it's gonna cost to get even half way to being roadworthy.
I've honestly never heard suspension make so much clanging and rattling, from the front AND rear. Even my old 960 estate that was my previous workhorse was nowhere near as bad after three years of total and utter abuse!!

First thing's first though, found some coil packs to try. Gotta at least get the 6-pot singing before I go any further

The quadra qualifies then assuming it ever gets back on the road!! But like I was saying odds on I'll be working then

Noo..don't do it - I always fall into that trap - then get pissed off with the amount of work takes to get back to standard & lose interest
