    Lack of Boost

Sorry chaps I’m back again with more mundane questions. As you could possibly tell from my earlier post about the compressor, I’m a total newbie about all things turbo-istic. I know it’s a B5244T5 engine and I’m led to believe, by GWE, that it’s a 24T turbo.

I’ve just been for a quick thrash up the motorway in “Wolfie” and although she’s running well, something seems to be “missing”. I can’t get any more than 8lb of boost. So in reference to the earlier post, do I definitely need a Recirc Valve, or should I be looking at other things first?

Your comments would be most appreciated.

    Brian

use a spray bottle with soapy water on ur boost pipes/intercooler,(like the tyre people do when looking for a punctue) give the car a rev and look for bubbles might be something simple before spending loads of money

It's a KKK K24 turbo, like above, check for boost leaks.

Unfortunately this will not work as the engine will not produce boost when on a fast idle.

You are better off spraying easy start over the boost hoses and seeing if the idle increases.

Def go for the easy start / brake cleaner / wd40 anything flammable.

I did that and found leaks in the hoses to the inlet manifold.

We replaced them at the southern meet 8 and 10mm silicon 1.5 metres of each iirc and check the one way valves as well
