    Proud 850R owner

    Hi Guys,

As many of you already know, I sold my Nautic V70R BACK to foammanmark. I had to get a diesel for commuting purposes which I was content with for a month. It seemed like fate that I needed to get back into a volvo though because within a week of commuting to my new job I saw a neglected Brilliant Red (pink) 850R in a garage yard. I went to enquire that day after work but the owner wasn't their to discuss the sale. Anyways I went to see it yesterday, it had been stood for around 1.5yrs however started no problem. The paintwork is faded but have already brought half the car back to life. I feel that me and my dad got it for a steal of a price.

    The car is a 1996 850R Auto - Completely standard! 170k

Work to do is - Oil return seal on the turbo, full service, intense clean up operation!

Once it's had a good Stage 0 I'll get it on the road and will be my Friday to work car.

Any tips or advice will be welcomed. So happy to be back!

    Rohit

Yes mate, I tried to buy it a few years ago as I work at JLR, around corner, it used to be a courtesy car for the garage, it ran well before it was parked up. Just check mots as when I looked at it, it had no MOT and the next day it had full 12 months and it hadn't moved, it's quite solid just need a bloody good clean and valet.

Fair enough.. Hopefully me and my dad can breathe some life into it then! It's not gonna be a daily driver so just gonna take my time and get it right. I work at JLR too.. If you take your R into work will be great to meet up!

Faded red paintwork is so rewarding ,it comes back to life in such a satisfying way.
One of my neighbours had a really badly faded Golf and I was sooo tempted to sneak out one night and g3 and wax it without telling them .
