Drivers door window wind whistling:
I had an idea of how this might be silenced with narrow strip of self adhesive foam tape like the type I used for wing seating on RC fixed wing models back in the 1970s.
Trawling the net found some on ebay,
5m Black Single Sided Foam Tape Closed Cell 10mm Wide x 1.5mm Thick,
and purchased a role £3.55 post free.
So to test the theory decided to fix to the edge of the glass rather the door gasket -easier to clean-off if unsuccessful.
To find the exact position used two 25mm wide strips of 80g printer paper. Shut the door with these over the top edge of the glass, slid one upwards till it stopped and applied a small piece of masking tape to window, and did similar for the lower end.
Applied the tape to aline with the outer face of the glass and trimmed off the excess with a scalpel from the inner side, leaving just a 5mm strip along the edge of the window.
Shut the door...tape remanded and than went for a test drive. The whistling had commenced around 55mph, with the tape in place silence!
