If any drawings are needed I can get drawings done in Autocad (our lass can do it or I know lads who can use it)

In fact that goes for any part really, if it can be sketched up with a biro then a CAD drawing can be made

The program used on the water jet doesn't need a specific cad drawing Jamesy, it relatively easy to cut whatever shapes or contours using the control screen. Thanks though. I'm taking the big girl to work on Friday to measure up using my gizmo's in work.
Are people using boot dampers on the "ghetto" fabs as Colin put it?

I'm planning to plasma cut mine when I'm in on nights this week and utilise a boot damper as per Colin's superb example of budget mods that make a massive difference, can't wait to see how well this works on the green bitch

I think before everyone uses up the boot damper supply, some one aught to give Jim a couple as he's broken his brolly.

sorry for thread hijack, Jim, but thanks for the idea...!
Just to add to this, the fully extended length of the damper is 245 mm and bolt hole diameters are 8.5 mm. Fully compressed is 178.

don't these boot struts struggle to hold up a tailgate, let alone hold back a 250bhp engine?

I've got to say I was thinking that also. The one I posted is an engine torque damper from a Volvo 400-series, which holds back a whole 120 hp / 175 Nm . Anything better than nowt....good motto for life that

A knackered one might not hold a tailgate up but a good one certainly does the job, and an engine doesn't exactly move as much as a tailgate, I put some tape on my strut to monitor movement and it moves about 3mm.

No-one had new struts on their boot for a while then?

I'm hopefully getting some fancy dampers.
Colin's right his moves a minimal amount, we had a demo last week at the smoke stop.
I've bagged some 10mm stainless which is a tad overkill but I like things to be well built. Lol

I think 10mm might be too thick, 6mm gives just enough thread on the strut mount bolts for the nuts to be fully wound down with a strut brace fitted.
