Thumbs up A 'shock-ing' day on the S60 (Bonny)

The front shocks and mounts on Bonny were knackered so I replaced them today. The Spring seats are genuine Volvo parts, I used Pro Parts Sweden for the top mounting plate and aftermarket shocks. The springs looked ok and so I kept them and reused them.

Yes, they both were. The springs take some compressing, I used to Draper Spring compressors and they seemed to hold the spring nicely plus they have a slot for the half inch drive which made things a lot easier. The lower shock to hub bolts were totally rusted in, it took lots of penetrating fluid, some patience and a breaker bar to shift them. I replaced the old rusty bolts and nuts with some genuine Volvo ones and applied a little Loctite for good measure, I also replaced the Driveshaft retaining bolts with new (OE) ones as the Driveshaft had to be taken out of the hub to allow removal of the shock assembly.

Once the wheel's off, the droplink needs undoing from the strut, then 3 nuts and bolts on the strut top, and 2 nuts and bolts the hold the strut tyo the hub assembly, and the strut's off, 1/2 hour's work at most. Why anyone would want to start messing about with removing driveshafts, and risk splitting the inner CV joint is anyone's guess.

And the usual suspects are already making digs about James work. This is exactly why he words his posts in the way he does, to get a reaction. While he was away, everything was running smoothly on the forum. One thread in and he's already winding some of you up. Just don't comment, he will get bored and stop posting. As the Meerkat says, " simples"

We post because someone like the poster below you might read this thread and thinks he will need to remove the driveshaft to do a simple strut change, as long as the OP keeps posting misinformation I and others will post to correct him.

Here's an idea. How about everyone goes about their own business and ignores those that they don't like.

oh yeah and don't feed the trolls
