    urgent help needed

    I was changing and playing with my vvt solenoid and gave up. Put the old one back on and started her. Had a horrible grinding noise similar to one of a drill when too much load going threw it? I have spark, fuel, its turning over but will not start now. Have locked unlocked in case immobiliser no luck. Ive noticed the throttle is making a high pitch sound for a very long time.. never use to do this. Thoughts/suggestions

    Im also getting quite a vigorous popping sound from the air filter side. Really irritating me now!

    Just what did you undo ?,the bolts that hold the sprocket on or the big hex nut in the middle?.

    None, just the solenoid. Done compression test and have absolute zero... time to look for a t5

    Im looking at three options. Any help would be much appreciated as itll be a nice project

    I can either:
    Do a straight engine swap in and out
    source a t5 lump and drop that in. Engine ecu loom, is the immboliser to jg to be an issue on the engine/ecu. Can they be re programmes withithe old key? Any other t5 parts needed?

    Then I thought of the s60r lump... but obviously I have a slight issue of a couple more wheels to turn.. :/ not do able im thinking at yhe moment. What your thoughts? I dont want to buy another car and dont mind spending the money as im in no rush and the cars immaculate so want to keep. Thanks
