    Maybe your coolant is colour-blind?

They may have different pressure ratings. I'm not sure about this green cap thing anyway, as my C70 has one, and it's split, but, it's been on the car since I've owned it, and never given problems, maybe it's letting the excess pressure out that a black cap would normally.

Found this, although not all that helpful I'm afraid:

    Volvo coolant expansion tank caps
    •grey = 1.50 bar - 22 psi (superceded by the green cap)
    •green = 1.50 bar - 22 psi
    •white = 1.00 bar - 15 psi (uncommon)
    •black = .75 bar - 11 psi (for 140/240s)

So from that it seems that the grey and green caps handle the same pressure, but I don't know what other difference there may be.

Well as I'm still not allowed to drive since my ankle breaking antics in Benidorm I got bored and cleaned the engine again and played with the grill with what little in the way of paint I have

    GLWTS, looks a nice example.

PS - If you decide to sell it off for parts I'll have the front seats (assuming they're as good as they look in the pics)
