    Thumbs up S70 r 1998

About time I made a project thread, although I have done very little with it so far! The car was previously owned by Yosser - so all credit should go to him....it's rather nice I must say...

yea I fancied this colour for a while but couldn't find a really good example til this one came up.

Let's see how good the brakes are at Croft....! Never really used them in anger yet - easy said but I try to avoid the need for slamming the anchors on at the last moment, even when pressing on a bit. The 302s on my previous S70 were pretty good I remember.

    Still considering….

All aluminum radiator? As pointed out by Merc & Stribo in another thread, the standard radiator has an oil cooler incorporated on the driver’s side and so does this do88 item. Price seems OK.

6-speed box? Acceleration is fine already…shorter gears would just mean more rowing through the box to 100 I mean 69 mph. I’ll make a decision after Croft. If I burst something I think an M56 & quaife diff would do the trick better than an M66.

More power, Captain? Estimate of power was about 320. That figure was a guess by Tim Williams based on how it feels I suppose – the tried & tested method of gluteus maximus dynamometus. Torque I don’t know, quite a bit more than the Shark, which was 400+ Nm. Nitrous anti-lag set up maybe…..standard rods cough cough…

Glad you're liking it, it was a fun project and a good car to me.

I'm still not used to the S60R, it feels so tame in comparison.

The gearbox would probably have been my next move. I'd likely have done as you said with m56 and an lsd.

The brakes are good but I'm told they could be miles better with other pads, carbotech xp somethings seem to be the in thing.

Ultimately I know it doesn't matter who bought the car, but I'm glad it was you.

    Enjoy

Thanks very much for comments fella!! I remember it was absolutely immaculate when I turned up to buy it. No it's not tame by any stretch of the imagination, nice and raw, but can feel like a nice cruiser when getting out of the Renault into this

Great seeing this car with an owner who sounds like they will look after it, not many of these rare cars about so good to see one on the forum.
