Oh, plus a glorious (but dead) 01 Alfa 166 V6 and a 05 Liquid Yellow Clio 182.

Well it's shiny enough to spot you're parked next to a Focus Mk1?

Time for a small update...I've decided to give some 320 mm V50 brakes a go on the front, so gathering parts for that including:
Calipers LH #36000731 & RH #36000704 (Volvo, ebay)
Carriers #36000732 (Volvo, ebay)
Discs #31329122 (Volvo, new)
Pads #30742029 (Volvo, new)
Spring retainers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2317323871...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Plus of course the adaptors & fasteners kit from AshDVS. The discs need to be bored out to 68.0 mm & one of the mounting holes on each of the carriers need to be drilled out to 12.0 mm/countersunk.
The reason for this is mod is...
1. I've always been a fan of swapping OE bits from higher spec cars where possible, rather than dedicated performance kits,
2. The AP's are due a rebuild & I need the car as a daily
what you doing with the ap calipers

keeping hold of them for now, if the 320 mm discs are OK on the next track day I might sell them (APs) on. Or if the new brakes are a noticeable step down from the APs probably I will get the APs rebuilt & back on. I don't tend to batter my brakes so should be fine
oh aye have you see the price of oil lately I'm brassic, may as well sell water
Yes I saw your post from a while ago on that, thanks for the tip
Ad be interested if your to sell them like
Alright mate but I would offer them to Nick Yosser first as he was generous enough to give me spare discs & pads when I bought the car, they were probably expensive new so I'd clear it with him first before selling on. Hope that is understandable I don't want to be seen as a greedy £££££££

That's a very considerate/kind/honourable thing. Thank you.
The reality is that, despite my still feeling attached to it in some way, it's your car to do with as you please. The only reason I'd want the brakes back is so that I can refit them to the car when I eventually take it back
Serously though, thanks, but it's your baby now. I'd probably have stuck with the AP's but I totally understand the direction you want to go in, plus, anything that makes for cheaper discs and pads is a good thing. Nothing about running the AP setup is low cost.
I still have a set of headlight protectors here for you too BTW!
jamesy12345 (Monday 14th December 2015)
Cheers fella I forgot about those headlight protectors...again!! The APs were great on the track, could not fade them, but the thing is I use the car as a daily & I think all the salt & ££££ on our roads are doing them no good. Just my opinion but I'd like to give the 320's a go to see how they compare both in performance (and weight although that is less important).
Seems that ATE have replaced 'Super Blue' with 'Type 200' brake fluid, so went for that. I was going to go for some fancy Motul or Castol stuff until I saw the price..!
Wet boiling point of Super blue/Type 200 close enough to the expensive stuff.
The short version of the above is I'm a tight £££££££

Typ200 and super blue are the same thing, bar the colour.
They ran the products side by side so that when you changed fluid you alternated between the two, that way the change in colour assisted in knowing when all the old stuff was flushed out.
The EU saw off super blue with some bull££££ about all brake fluids being the same colour, i.e. not blue.

Fecking Eurocrats poking their noses in!

Ey up brakes have just arrived....
V50 calipers, carriers + DVS adaptor weighing in at at approx 6.5 kg per side
The calipers are huge I thought they were XC90 items at first but were tagged with the correct part number & stamped FoMoCo
