The brake balance is controlled electronically.

It'll cope with different braking performance at one end.

I remember - that's when mine made 310bhp. Happy days.

Yeah, providing you have the more advanced dstc safety system, it can monitor and control the brakes on each wheel and cut the throttle if it thinks you're about to do something stupid.

This week, i upgraded my suspension to a Bilstein B12 Pro kit. Really good upgrade! But the mechanic said that the brake lines on the front are scraping against the chassis at maximum steering. Has anyone else noticed this and found a solution?

In the picture you can see the metal scrapes pretty clearly.

Hi Can you give more info on what you think about the B12 kit, Do you think the damping is to hard or just right, is the car roll cut out,
    Thanks Dave

I just picked up the car yesterday, so i can't say too much about it yet. But what i have noticed, is that it gives you a lot more feeling and feedback. You feel much more in contact with the car. The car also has much less body roll and dives less when braking or accelerating. In the corners it just feels better and more sporty, like i'd expect from a car that's advertised by Volvo as a sporty sedan. Obviously you do give up a bit of comfort, but not too much. My wife didn't really notice anything and wondered why i "wasted" all that money The only place i really noticed that the damping was harder, was on a cobblestone road. But even then, the comfortability was perfectly acceptable. All in all; i highly recommend it!

    Hi Thanks for the info,
I do have the eibach springs with STD dampers so it would be the same if I got the B8 dampers, I do find the springs very good, but I have been thinking about the dampers,

I think the Bilstein dampers will be an upgrade! Drove some more today and i must say that it's just more fun to drive right now.

As for the brake hoses scraping against the chassis... does anyone know to fix that?

Yeah i agree , it is standard fitment on many brake lines to have a section of rubber tube over the top near potential chafe points. Inthink my 850 fronts have it. I would make some grommets up out of a section of fuel hose or similar, slit down the side, clip it over the brake line and then attach with cable ties or acrylic sealant. Drawback is it wilmstill chafe so you make want to attach a small bit of shiny stainless to cover up the rubbed patch. Not sure what MoT man will say about rubbing hoses!!! Otherwise you may ned to get longer hoses and route them so they can be clipped back so they dont chafe. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Thanks! Since i wanted new brake lines anyway, i upgrade to steel braided ones. They still have a layer of plastic to cover them though, but an extra layer of rubber might be enough to protect both the chassis and the brake lines. And i don't think it'll be visible, with the massive XC90 callipers in front of them

So, a little while later. My S60 went for the yearly checkup and my brake lines where dangerously damaged. Turns out the mechanic who installed the callipers, connected the brake lines to the bleed nipples. Apparently this fits perfectly fine, but on the max steering angle the brake lines get bend too much. I had to get new brake lines and now all is fine Definitely something to keep in mind.

    Hi Dudes!

    Sorry for the ambush!

I'm just in the process of doing this upgrade to my D5 V70.

Does anyone know whether the 336mm XC90 'upgrade' will fit with 17" Amalthea's? Don't want to go down the realms of having to buy some new rims just yet as just put new rubber on my 17's!

    Thanks in advance!

    Jay

    Hi Timo,

It does seem some 17's fit whilst others need spacers.

I'm just trying to do the homework before putting all the xc90 kit on the car and finding out that i can't use it due to the wheels (Amalthea's) not fitting.

Guess it's going to have to be a case of trial and error!

So a bit of an update.

17' Amalthea's kinda fit. As in they will physically fit over the rims, however you will need spacers to clear the calipers!Name: brake 1.jpg

Here's how the brakes fit with 17x7.5 Amalthea maybe 3-5mm (half a finger width) at the narrowest point.

I never had any trouble fitting ameltheas over the 336 kit.
Yes, it was tight but, never had any fouling.
