I have seen this setup behind a set of 17" Tethys......not sure whether they were using spacers tbh.

Should fit, I know for a fact they go under 17" amaltheas, comets and pegs. There's about 15mm gap between the caliper and wheel weights with amaltheas.

Currently in the process of refurbing a set of XC90 Rear calipers for the S60. A small upgrade from the current solid 288mm discs of the S60 to the vented 308mm discs from the XC90. Probably offer very little noticeable improvement but my rear discs need replacing so thought why not

Been using Xc90 rears on p1's a while they work quite well, you should notice it.

336s fit under Tethys without spacers iirc.

I have another question. Which brake lines do you use, stock ones or Xc90?

The xc90 calipers' pipe attachment is actually slightly closer to the body than the standard one so your current lines will do fine.

I also did this upgrade, front and rear. I was expecting a massive difference, since the rear discs are now larger than the stock 286mm front discs. However, i find it a bit disappointing to be honest. Sure, the pedal responds a bit earlier but it doesn't really feel much different. Or does it take a while before the system really performs to it's full potential? I've driven about 200km / 120miles and went for Zimmermann sport + Ferodo Premier (front) and regular Zimmermann discs + Ferodo Premier (rear).

To the best of my knowledge the front brake set up of the now discontinued Focus RS with the Volvo 5 pot came straight off the old XC90. The problem might be that the clever front suspension on those RSs might have different spacings, bolt diameters etc. to the old small Volvos that otherwise shared the Focus platform, suspension etc.

Made a huge difference specially on high speed braking, and it looks soooo much better.

    Hi this is brilliant info,
I did 305mm on my s60 d5 about 3 years ago, would it be safe to fit the xc90 rears on the car with the 305mm on the front, or should I fit the 336 on to the front before the vented xc90 rears,
    Thanks Dave

I think it would be perfectly safe to fit the rears first. I can't see it upsetting the braking balance of the car that much tbh.

    Hi Stephen
Thanks for that , I did think that as pressure on the back braking is reduced anyway,
also with the front ,I read that there are 2 different sizes of the xc90 front brakes available,
how do I know the callipers are for the 336mm, was there a year car I need to get them from, as I will be looking on ebay,
    Thanks Dave

I got the t6 2.9 336mm Calipers of a 2004 xc90 also when I fitted the rears I had the rears fitted for a couple of weeks till I got the bigger wheels you notice the increase in braking in the rear but doesn’t affect the balance

Just be a little careful with xc90 disc's and calipers, as by local motor factors informed me there 3 different sizes of front disc's listed, when I went for pads recently.

ok thanks for all of the help, I am still in two minds as I did my 305 fronts about 3 years ago and are still in very good condition, but another 31mm should be a very good up grade,
    Thanks Dave
