4 bolted plate underside of car, just behind the cat

Hi, Came across this plate underside my car when trying to replace my cat,
all but 1 bolt ended up spinning when trying to remove it, I think it has some kind of weak thread where it bolts on to the vehicle..
What exactly is that plate for? Please don't tell me 'structural rigidity' It is incredibly flimsy metal..

I think it's to stop the exhaust hitting the floor if it comes off, if it's the bit I'm thinking of, same thing happened to me and I cut it off and left it off

I've had to take mine off, as the race cat fouls it.

It's the one between the cat and centre exhaust clamp. I'm sure it'll be fine without it.

Ahh thats a load off my mind.. I'll get the angle grinder and take those bolts off then. Its currently held in with 1 tight (not spinning) bolt and 3 spinning but un removable bolts.. so rattling at idle when hot .. 10/10.
What do they even screw into exactly, putty ?

I reckon they must have nuts spot welded underneath. I would suggest cutting them off and chucking in some filler/ silicone to prevent them rattling around in there. Sounds a bit pikey but it would do the job.

I'm offended by what you've just said! I'm a posh Pikey, are you suggesting I'm a bit naff?

Well then you are clearly of upper class than other pikeys and would not do such things, right?
