I had the same experience in mine, and its mapped! I was pulling but not as fast as I thought it could, it was against a new ST. My mate has one and it didn't feel fast inside, nothing like the R anyway.

That doesn't make sense, I raced one of the originals years ago in my P1R auto and he was barely pulling at all from me, and my P2 is far far faster than my P1

These 5 pot Ford's are quick......I have one but they feel smooth don't feel like you're gaining much speed until you look at the speedo

I got caught in the wrong gear in a dice with a new Fiesta ST. Came down a dual carriage sliproad in 3rd instead of second and he was gone! Quick little buggers they are. Caught up with him just as we got to a twisty section of B roads and didn't see which way he went.

it's a bit of a waste of time trying to see who is faster on the road. I'm being general not having a dig cos I've done it too - your concentration just isn't (shouldn't be) on beating a car alongside you. So many variables too, like is one of the cars fully loaded or something wrong with it.

Looking at the numbers on the net, the ST's are pretty quick & a couple of hundred kgs lighter than your car? I wouldn't be embarrassed about it tbh.

My old v70r (tired) used to kill standard st's but lose to mapped ones (mates had 280bhp). My t5 now laughs at st's modified or standard & gives chase to rs's. Really want a diff in it so I can lay it down without eating my tyres.
A local company tunes Fords & I admit some are silly fast but they all seem to poo themselves & snap shafts or break boxes.
A local Orange st is 450 horse & has beaten the local gallardo. Constantly breaking things though.

I've beaten a Focus ST (225) with my S70 T5, once they start mapping though they can be quite rapid. When I was looking to replace my Cougar, I yes drove a standard ST, and it didn't seem much quicker than the Cougar, I'm guessing standard boost isn't that much.

I suppose you get to the point where more power turns into wheel spin.

I've beaten a st225 (guessing standard) from stand still to 80 2 car lengths, between lights.

But they should leap up in bhp quite easily with little tuning

IMO a mapped S60R should be destroying a stock ST, standard the R's are pretty tame though, imo. So not sure on that side of things. I remember being shocked last time mine was running the stock map.
