Had a problem with one on the 850 and on a 2009 V50, the v50 was the buckle not releasing (worrying) and removing the casing carefully and oiling solved that one, the 850 was like yours not pulling out and was a pain to oil as it's all hidden away and even with the panels off I don't remember it being that easy to access and lubricate, but that was what did to mine, it did sort it but for how long before I have to do it all again I don't know, but if it sticks again I will take it fully out to sort it

Same thing happened to me. I have tried to fix the spring loaded mech - but ended up having to get a new seatbelt (from Sweden) - took 2 weeks and cost 200 quid or so.

    I didn't want a second hand belt.

Mine does same jams on 2005 V70, the guide where it comes out of the pillar wore on mine so as it reels in it oversails the side of the reel and jams the mechanism , I find I have to pull it at a different angle to release it

Because the pre-tensioner has an explosive in it - you can't send it by air - it has to come overland.

The pre-tensioner is on the catch though, not the reel, or does it come complete with both parts.

For the C70 coupe - the catch is fixed and is part of the seat - the explosive pre-tensioner in the C70 is attached to the reel via a steel cable. Its a steel tube with explosive and when it goes off it pulls the steel cable tight which in turn pulls the seat belt tight. There is nothing in the catch.

I dare say it may well be different on the estate.
