    C70 T5 alternator failure-advice please.

So last night I was caught out at close to midnight, after thinking that the dash lighting was dimmer than usual. Then the ABS, SRS and other warning lights came on, followed by no speedo etc. I was only about 6 miles from Home, and finally got back at about 2am on the back of an RAC truck.

Recommended alternator and where to buy from please? I have at best basic knowledge but I'm attempting this myself as I can take my time with having the other cars to use whilst I sort it.

I had the Alternator fail on the T5 a couple of years back. An absolute ball-ache to change but cost me £125 in the end with a quality new part I got from Quingting Autoparts on Ebay. Get one with a clutch pulley already on it, saves a lot of messing about.

    The Volvo units are overpriced.

After a few struggles, the alternator has left the car. Damned hard to get the thing out with that power steering pump bracket in the way. Not really looking forward to fitting the new one, but I will do my best when I have my replacement.

Used the car twice last night after replacing the alternator last weekend, and both the interior and exterior lighting are considerably brighter than what I remember they were a few months ago. Can an alternator's performance start to fade, or do they just go all at one?
