    Donor for manual conversion.

This might sound like a daft question but...

Could I use a manual 70 NA car be used for a conversion in a turbo car?

I ask as there is a manual non turbo going quite cheap not too far away.

I'm guessing the wiring may be an issue?

I've had most of my donor parts, for our V70R AWD Ph3, from an S reg 2.0l v70 (gearshift, flywheel, clutch cylinder and slave, pedal etc) only wiring is jumping the pnp switch as far as I'm aware, rev limit will have to move higher, sourced separately an M66 AWD and will have to find a cruise control switch for the clutch pedal as the donor was non-cruise control. Hoping to have it all in and up and running for end of april

Davey, if you are converting your AWD to manual, wouldn't you need the M58 'box?

not if he's dropping the awd, but if he wishes to keep the awd then an m58 or or m66 awd would both work.

Hurry up and do it Dave, I've got my M58L ready to go into my AWD when the time comes - just want someone reasonably close to do it first so that I can call on them if needed Just to tease...

Got the matching bevel box too

But to answer your Q, I'll be looking for a S70 2.5 - not sure if that has a bigger flywheel more suited to an 'R' clutch? Emphasis on the 'not sure' bit !!! You could get an 850, but the pedal box is different - the S/V70 pedal box is much easier to work with apparently.

there is a metal bracket by the clutch pedal, you will need this if stripping out a scrapper, would be a pain to get another. I might pull a parts list together later it will serve as a double check for my conversion

Nice one, I've got a couple of donors lined up now then

AWD is crap and I've ran this with the prop out for over 10k now!
I'd imagine getting an AWD box and a matching prop that fits the Viscous Coupling on my car would be extremely difficult as there are so many variations with these!

I'm going full out, M66 FWD with LSD, lightened flywheel and a decent clutch.
It's going to be a fit and forget for the future

If Adrian, you do make a parts list for the conversion then if you could share it would be a huge benefit

I'll see what I can do, as I'm sorting bit's and pieces at present and trying to collate them together as I go so I'll try and get something up before the weekend is out

I'm sure you've read about Husseins amazing car (got the idea of fitting a XC bumper from him), but just in case this is a great write up of his M66 conversion...

I'm so stupid, I keep forgetting that the angle gear is separate to the gearbox so ignore that in bold!
I believe it may be that my angle gear is damaged anyway (hence my prop is rusting on the garage floor), the prop was banging as the centre bearing was fubared and that may have damaged the output of the angle gear as it still makes a rattle? Not sure, just thinking out loud, don't really care tbh

Sadly I've lost out on the 2 'cheap' donors, one a scruffy V70 T5 on RetroRides that I was umming and ahhing over but lost out to a caller that called the day I meant to, LOSER DAVE! ...and then an S70 NA (hence the thread) on eBay that's gone too high for me.
    The hunt will go on!

I have the, prop banging under the floor sound on my 850 awd, my assumption is that it was the centre diff that is fubarred, contrary to the mechanic that sold it to me's diagnosis, that the rear diff was shot, I think the angle is ok and I was going to drop the prop to see if this was just a front/rear differential issue, but the fuel pipes have just shat themselves, so rear end out to sort that,so kicked it out of the garage and it will have to wait, the olive t-5r is due in for pre race fettling far more important imho

Ive got a lightly accident damaged S70 T5 manual, 117K and pretty much FSH, Its going to be minus a few bits: Rad, Turbo, Injectors etc and unfortunately the steering rack! (My 850 TDI's started leaking) But the rest is there, Might be able to bodge up the lack of steering to get it on a trailer and ive got use of a forklift here!! Drove fine before i started taking bits off it, No V5 but i have the green slip, PM me if you are interested in it. Wont be available for a month or so as i'm busy with work and have to get the rack, Turbo and a few more non manual transmission related bits off! I'm in Barnstaple, Devon about 2.5 hrs away?

Cheers for the offer klunk but no good for me, I've got no way of getting it here.

I need a car I can take for its last drive

PS. AWDs are a pain in the arse!
