    x70 bonnet release cables

My V70 suffered from the stretched release cable issue a few months back and I fitted a used cable to rectify it. Sadly this has also started to fail to release the catch, so I'm relying upon the 'emergency' cord that I rigged up to release the offending catch when this happens.

As this is a common fault I was wondering if anyone has found an alternative solution - does a cable from another manufacturer that is more reliable fit? Has anyone rigged up a bicycle brake cable? etc etc... Just looking at options before getting a brand new one which will no doubt be the wrong side of £50!

    Thanks

as far as I recall they can be fitted with some washers to take up the slack and improve operation, not actually done it myself but will have to soon on our v70r awd, as that is getting bad on the passenger side

Yeah, its usually that side that stretches. I've already got some packing in there, so I need a new cable I reckon

BTW, I'd recommend you fit an emergency cable if yours is starting to be a pain - once it stretches too far you have to get very inventive and grow three wrists and two elbows to get the damn bonnet open again. This is what I did if it helps -
