    Turbo upgrades. Advice please?

My S70 T5 is coming off the road for a while so I can get it to where I want it without running it. I plan on doing the full works such an exhaust, decat, intercooler, etc.

I do have hands on experience with cars but I've never changed a turbo myself. How hard are they to do on your own? Ideally looking at a 19T but I want to know what I need to buy, will I need injectors and what injectors, etc. Is there anyone that specialises in fitting turbos to save my own hassle? I understand I'll need a remap with the new turbo so it runs properly. I understand the standard downpipe (Well I will be upgrading) will fit a 19T? Please shed some light as I am new the T5 scene

Ok in brief........turbo's aren't hard to change on these but you will scrap your nuckles , 4 nuts holding it to the manifold + 3 oil/water feeds + 2 torxs underneath for the oil return, 19t is a standard /good upgrade, lots of off the shelf maps around to accommodate do your research I'm not getting involved in that one

Basically what I needed to hear, thanks! A scrape of the knuckles won't kill me. I don't know if I'm being over cautious but will it not be safe to drive after bolting it straight on because fueling, etc? I've got my parts list and just want to crack on

Oh and make sure you prime the oil line's before starting, remove fuel relay and ht lead and crank for 30 secs to get the oil around the turbo,.

Depends on budget as well. I'd be inclined to agree that the 19T is a very capable direct-bolt-on turbo. You will need a better downpipe to make use of the higher flow rates. You can get to 320 bhp with a few other mods - maybe further?

Also it depends what you want to do with it. If you just want a fast road application then 19T - downpipe - exhaust - remap will be plenty - even for track days. You may even wish to move up to the next injector just to make sure you can fuel it safely.

Beyond that - it depend on the depth of your pockets and how much compromise/risk you are willing to take with reliability.

I did a 19T from box to bin over 7 years & 4 remaps, no bother at all. Over the last 3 years with something more custom - well it is safe to say I am on my 3rd attempt with 2 race engines to make it to a Chrimbo with the car on the road. There probably is some middle ground, between those extremes, but I am trying to beat Dean and all on the drag strip. I also fancy a pop at hillclimbing.

Well I'm not really on a budget as the car is just off the road now and I'm just collecting bits as I go along. My ideal finished set up would be 19T, injector upgrade, downpipe, decat and exhaust, decent intake, intercooler upgrade and any other mods people can think off that would benefit. (Inlet manifold?, RIP kit?).

    Will be my weekend car

    S60R/V70R uses a KKK24 not a 19T, but you knew that anyway...right?
