    Irritating tapping/knocking noise on my 98 S70?!

Very hard to describe it. You accelerate and it's fine, come off the pedal and it will tap/knock on down revs but if you put the clutch down, it stops? I'm assuming it's clutch/gear box related?! Also when turning off, it will make a rattle noise. Clutch isn't slipping while driving at all, and no noises on idle...

Sorry, I am no expert on describing these things! I will try get a video.

I'd say your release bearing, mine makes a right racket sometimes but silent others.

It's not your usual release bearing noise though, it's very loud and noticeable . I've been told by a garage it's the CV boot on the drivers side (where the noise is coming from). Also makes the noise on full lock!

Try driving slowly on full lock - if the CV joint is shot you'll hear a distinct click-click-click as the wheel rotates.

Yes that's the one mate, I've tried that and garage has tried that and seems to be the source!
