850 T5 Radiator and Oil cooler

Hi, As my luck rolls, my top hose outlet on the radiator has sheared off flush with rad, and will require the radiator swapping out.

My main question is, can I install a standard radiator and install a separate oil cooler elsewhere, and leave me a bit more room for a larger intercooler?

The main reason behind this being in the very near future I am looking at completely stripping out the engine and bay area, rebuilding engine along lines of bigger turbo, 3" throttle, RIP kit, forged con rods, pistons etc.
I will be asking loads of questions no doubt and annoying some of you with stupid ones as well.

    Thanks Dave.

Yep, you can fit the N/A rad and separate oil cooler ( or any 850 rad turbo/auto or N/A, just don't use the built in oil cooler pipework if you don't want to), just like I am about to on my 850, you will need to modify the cooler hoses, but there are plenty of places that can sawage new pipes and fitting onto the existing steel pipes to suit what you require.

Brilliant, I hoped that would be the case, I assume that an aftermarket oil cooler with the required surface flow will be suitable, also (sorry) is there any distance in a watercooled intercooler?

    Thanks Dave.

I put some AN10 to push fit connections and renewed the hoses but kept the metal pipes (just bent them a little) seems to be working well, just make sure you get a decent size oil cooler as I heard smaller ones could effect oil pressure (worth researching though)

sorry, never gave a thought as too push fit fittings, as I'm lucky enough to have someone who can sawage up a pipe or 2 for me, so never crossed my mind, but would work just as well and should work out cheaper

I had dismissed the option of push fits in my mind, but now having thought about it and you posting that up, reminded me that I have used pushfits to repair the power steering pipe on my Nissan NV400.
Looks a nice conversion that you are doing, braver than me doing it outside though .....too old for that lol.

Swaging the pipes is a good call as I may run them along the engine bay with rigid pipe until the last 2-300mm before cooler, thanks for the input really appreciated.
