    Keyless entry... easy to nick?

Hi .... have just taken delivery of my S80 V8 which has keyless entry. Have been reading bad things about it being easy to nick though. BWM, Range Rovers etc seem to be prey to keyless thieves. Anyone know if the same problem afflicts Volvos? Would hate to lose it ..... took me over a year to find it.

With respect I think you'll be fine fella, I mean, who'd want to nick an S80? Thing is they're such a rare car and there's no demand for them in Europe. Pointless trying to steal something that can't be sold on.

As with any modern car it's much easier to steal the keys/card or whatever than to break into the thing and try to get around the ignition/immobiliser & all other security devices

Got to say Lee has a point so I wouldn't worry about it. If I did have something worth nicking I would leave the keys somewhere obvious in the house (on a hook in the kitchen)....cos if someone really wanted my car enough to break into my house, I would rather they took it and buggered off instead of waking me up

My dads Toyota can be started with the key present then driven off without it anywhere near.
I'd rather a key any day.

Will get round to that next week hopefully. This car MOVES! .... well faster than my S60R (5 speed auto). Still learning all the bells and whistles ...... need somewhere to test the autobrake without damage .... any suggestions would be welcome (other than getting a huge blow up doll lol)

S80 recognises when the key is not in the car and the engine is running. Need to test what it does if you try to drive it away.

One thing for sure it will definately make lots of noise in the dash and it definately will not restart if switched off.

Get a mate to steal it for you. Then see how far he gets.
