    ETS light. Help needed

    Hi
I'm having problems and read so many threads on this matter I have now confused myself

I had the Ets light come up on my 99 c70 t5
Removed etm and sent to Lukas to have it repaired with contactless parts
    Refitted it and no change
    Still in limp mode
    No boost
    Not revving over 4000

Had codes read and got a throttle pedal fault code
    Replaced throttle pedal
    No change

Bought a second hand etm unit of a good 2.5 turbo
    Fitted that
Now I have small boost full revs but lumpy and revving erratic acceleration

I am almost about to scrap the beast but thought I'd ask on here first
Please help cuz I'm at my wits end

    Cheers
    Texas

Although no boost says it could be an air leak.

hi,disconnect the plug from the maf and take it for a run...it may throw a fault code and light but if it runs better and boosts......its the maf !

    Thanks guys

I am sure I've tried this already but will try again today
Gonna start the hunt for air leaks as well cuz that's what I think it might be

Any tips on finding air leaks or is it almost a "suck it and see" lol

    Cheers

did you reset the ECU? did you follow the calibration procedure for the ETM? have you done any live logging?

    Update for today
    Thanks for responding so far

No difference from bosch maf bring unplugged
    Ecu was reset
    Etm install calibration was followed

Went to local auto electrician today and tried plugging into vida
Car would not communicate although it picked up the cars details

Reset all codes with his Delphi unit

    But couldn't read anything else

Car sounding likes it's misfiring so we checked the coil packs by removing plugs one by one
Ended up removing 3 before engine tone changed
    Diagnosis failing coil packs
Swapped 1 good with one bad
Fault went from 3 and 5 working to 1 and 3?
Left engine running without swapping sny others
    20 mins later 1 and 2 working
    10 mins later 1 and 5 working

He suggested new plugs and coils!!

I am thinking as engine is not working correctly it is limiting boost as it drives fine when accelerating but cough and splutters on idle and sounds like wet farts at full throttle

Question 1. could a failing coil pack cause ETS light to come on??
    2. Could faulty ETM cause coil to fail

anything is possible, when my contactless ETM failed it went with a bang and took out my MAP sensor, MAF sensor, 3 coil packs and 2 spark plugs my revs were up and down between 300rpm and 4500rpm.

If yours isnt responding to Vida Dice its 1 of 2 things:

    1 ECU is knackered
2 Wiring fault between ECU, ECM and OBD2 plug

    Happy new year everybody
    Update for today

Say thinking all night about this problem
To say its doing my head in is an understatement

So today I decided to remove the new ETM and refit the original repaired contactless one
I've got this down to 30 mins now ! Lol
Anyways, fitted and ran through the setup procedure as before

This time to my surprise everything was perfect !!!
    No lights
    All cylinders firing
And on year run........ FULL BOOST OF 1.2bar !!!

To say I'm confused but happy verrrry happy is yet another understatement

On a plus side I have pretty much completed a stage 0 tune in solving this problem so I would like to say a huge thank you to all those that have offered advice and help

A big thanks to Lukas for the speedy repair of my etm cannot recommend enough

All I need to do now is fit a better clutch as it was slipping a bit in 3rd at full boost
Once again a big thank you and I might now see you at the January southern meet

Cheers guys and HAPPY NEW TEAR
