    exterior light issue

Hope everyone had a great Christmas first off!

I have already spoke to lee briefly about this but I hadn't really checked it out so I didn't give him all the info.

I have noticed that my rear runing lights aren't working this also includes my rear fog and number plate, the brake lights, indicators and interior boot lights are working. I have now noticed that when I toggle the headlights on and off this is when it will go faulty I have also noticed when switching to sidelights when the fault happens the little green led doesn't work and I don't have sidelights, also both fog light buttons don't work when the fault happens!
could this be a faulty headlight switch causing all this?
    Thanks
    Martyn

Sounds like a faulty headlight switch to me, the rear lights will run seperate circuits with a common connection, the switch, so chances are the switch is the issue. You've got an S60R as well as the V70 haven't you? Why not just swap the headlight switch over between the car to illuminate the cause, confirm that the switch is the issue?

Assuming the switches aren't coded to the cars.

Have you got power going into the rear module? There's a power in lead eyelet that's easy to test.
have any of the fuses blown in the rear module as when the harness at the tail gate caused lights out on rear end, fuel flap not locking.on my car when harness shorted out.

codes need looking at,before wallet is removed.

I should have power Harvey because the interior boot light still works, I will read my codes next week, I should have said its the d5 so I can't swap controls, I think they will be coded anyway
    Thanks

Wires damaged or socket damaged,There should be a amp for the tow bar socket with a fuse.
If its a genuine volvo unit it can be unpluged .

Maybe it needs a software reload from Volvo.

    Because software controls the lights.

I have my doubts that's the issue and I wouldn't be handing over £100 to volvo for that, I thinks it's a faulty module.
    Thanks

The headlight switch is not coded to the car. As long as your switch in the S60 is post 2005 you'll be ok to swap.

The software for the lights is controlled by the CEM. reload will not make any difference.
