I always check on Autobulbs or the likes, as I can't remember. Dipped beam are H7's,and fogs I think H3's?

Oh poo have I just ballsed up as I have just ordered led bulbs for rear lights, number plate, front fogs and sidelights before actually thinking about whether I need ballasts etc for them all. Have I just gone and ordered them all wrong doh.

You won't need ballasts for LEDs, but you may need resistors if you get the bulb out warning with them fitted.

Since fitting my led sidelight bulbs, I have occasionally had the bulb out warning light but it seems to have been off for a while now. Was thinking of whipping the dash top off and taking the bulb out tbh.

But then you won't know when you actually have a bulb out.

Just check every few days was my plan, but headlights are obvious anyway.

So can I just fit led headlight bulbs without ballasts as well or am I missing something.

Sounds like it, and the worst that can happen is that you'll throw the bulb out warning light.

Yes, with something like this you shouldn't have problems with the bulb out warning light.

Ok well I am now totally baffled although to be fair that isn't difficult to do lol. If you don't actually need the ballasts etc then under what circumstances do you need them and why do people bother with them.

Is 80w not a bit ott as I was under the impression that 35w was 6k.

HIDs need ballasts, and are 35W or 55W, LEDs don't need ballasts, and are higher wattage.

How have you got HIDs running in your S60 with bulb warning? I tried them in my 2004 S60 and they worked but constantly had a bulb out warning. Couldn't live with that!!

Lucky you. Would really like HIDs. CANBUS corrector don't work. I've read you can drill a well placed hole in a shunt in the control module, but don't fancy that!! 😳

Might be worth asking MRP, I'm sure he used resistors to get rid of the bulb warning light on his P2 V70.

I have now fitted led's to rear lights and number plate lights and have a funky bulb out flash in time to the bass when playing music lol. Hoping the bloody bulb will just blow if it keeps flashing.
