After the Portmouth meet yesterday we went to the local breakers as they have got in a early 960, 940 lpt and a 16v 740

The engine & box had been removed from the left hand drive 16v 740.

I manged to get the rad out of the 940 lpt and the rad temp switch from the 960

I got a radiator fan from a guy on VOC but it didn`t come with the shroud, I did a bit of research and found that the 940/960 shroud only fits the 560mm radiator and I have the 450mm radiator. So using the 940 viscous fan shroud and some aluminium brackets I got the fan to fit the shroud.

As the 940 uses the same fan relay as the 850 I had a spare one, It was just a case of wiring in the relay, fan, temp sensor and the ecu supply.

Fitted the external fuel pump and plumbed both pumps in. Primed the fuel system and sprung a couple of leaks on either side of the fuel filter. Need to replace the copper washer with rubber seals.

As the fuel system was primed it would a shame not to try and start the engine, well it didn`t.

I`ve got a spark but the plugs where bone dry after 2-3 minutes of cranking, looks like the ecu has a immobilizer, lucky I`ve a second ecu so I`ll try again tomorrow.

Swapped over the ecu`s this morning and bingo

It sounds a bit rough as it hasn`t got any exhaust system (thats next months project)

    https://youtu.be/fAEJNa8JX5c

Just need to finish off wiring in the instrument cluster and fit the later rear axle.

Oooh and get the prop shaft lengthened.

A good achievement and shows off robs talents, basically a £££££ heap of a car and a box full of engine parts and now it's a turbo conversion with custom made parts.

Chuffing quick job as well really having to deal with all the issues the came came with before converting.

The sort of work that should be encouraged on the forum, rather than people ridiculing threads to death with stupid posts, the forum won't pick up if this keeps happening.

I reckon your quadrupled the value of the car rob.

I've only owned the car for just ovet 4 months so its not bad going

I paid £250 for car and its got to be worth a grand but cost me closer to two and half.

But end with a one of a kind 244 turbo

When it finally stopped rain today I fitted these either side of the fuel filter to replace to copper washers.

Worked a treat, no more fuel leaks. Just had time to take a few photo`s before tomorrow job of removing the back axle.

So today`s job was to remove the old axle ready for the early GLT axle with speedo sensor to go in.

Before the axle came out I mocked up the GLT prop to confirm that it needs to be lengthened by 50mm.

To make the axle easier to handle I removed the half shafts, brgs and seals looked to be in very good condition, this is handy as they are needed for the GLT axle. The handbrake shoes look like have been changed as there is plenty of material left on the shoes. I`ll be fitting new discs and pads when it all goes back together.

Once the axle was out the whole rear end was undersealed.

Nice progress so far, loving the retro build. It's going to be wicked once finished. I'm getting an itch to sell the S70 and get something retro/classic like this.

The plan for this weekend was to fit the axle so I could have a working speedo.

BUT parcels2go and my yodel had other ideas.

The diff was dispatched on the 8-4-15 on a 24hr delivery service. The courier "ran out of time" so my parcel was returned to the depot at 18:00 on the 9-4-15

Due to the fact the courier “ran out of time” it doesn`t count as a failed delivery so I can`t reschedule the delivery or change the delivery address. So my parcel has now been at the yodel depot since 18:00 on the 9-4-15 which is long than it took to come down from north wales.

Now the idiots are saying it MITE be delivered on 13-4-15 Mite be !!!!!! it £$%&in better be.

Of all the couriers I`ve dealt with through sending and receiving things parcels2go and my yodel are the most useless bunch of brain dead wan£ers.

just say what you think mate, don't hold back)) courier companies always seem surprised that you don't want to wait in all day just to get a delivery 5 mins before 6 pm

Finally yodel delivered my parcel, it only took them 120 hrs to deliver it when it was surposed to be on a 24hr delivery.

Anyway I cracked on with assembling the diff tonight, gave a good clean in clutch and brake cleaner then fitted into the housing.

Also fitted the Classic swede axle to trailing arm poly bushes.

Shot blasted and then polished the diff cover. The diff is now filled with EP90 gear oil and ready for installation back into the car.

I thought about fitting some bonnet louvres.
