    s40 t4

right I have had the car about 3 weeks now and love it , got rid of the 16ich wheels and got some arcadias and then had them powder coated anthracite.so the car now needs lowering asap so am goin to order the bilsteins and h&r springs from pfv this weekend .
I want to fit a front strut brace but don't know if Volvo did 1 for the s40 ???
also want some sort of brake upgrade aswell , bigger disks if possible and braided hoses to .

so does any 1 have any experience with these issues then.
also the h&r spring says its a 30mm drop but would like a 40mm drop really is there any other spring that I should consider before buying the bits from pfv

    cheers

The front strut brace i had on mine was from an evo 3 i think. You can also use the front brakes from these as well, i don't think the discs are bigger but the calipers are twin pots, but i must point out that i've read a few experiences that say that aren't a big improvement.

I THINK it was an evo 3......but i'm not 100% sure.

Evo 1-3 rear brace will fit, 4-6 front. The 1-3 front braces only have two bolts on the strut top mounts, not three like the Volvo.

I must have got them mixed up. Do you know which version the front brake conversion was from?

Evo 1-3 front brakes are all the same, twin pot callipers & 276mm discs. Some FTO's, think it MIVEC's have the same calliper but need to be used with Evo discs, unless you re-drill them for four stud. You can also use pre-facelift VR4 callipers which are twin pot but use 294mm discs, they bolt on apart from having to re-drill the discs to 4x114.3.

ad want the brakes to just bolt up no messing about redrilling the disks tbh as I wouldn't trust them 100%.

hi lee, genuine front brace is 9481207
I would not recommend fitting 17inch arcadias. Volvo did not offer them as an accessory because they found evidence of chassis cracking at the top mounts and other problems.
when the cars were made they fitted nivomat, re profiled the rear arches and had different racks to resolve it.
I ran aftermarket 17's for years no problems, but they were much lighter than arcadias.

a lot from evo 1,2 and 3 can be used. especially consider the polyurethane lower engine mounts .
drilled and grooved discs with fast road pads will be better than evo calipers on the same size normal discs.
I never upgraded mine from Volvo genuine parts they are well capable for the car.

First I've heard of the chassis cracking at the top :S
If they didn't offer them as an accessory then can you please tell me why they are a straight fit 'made for' the x40's??

The only warning I've heard regarding the arcadias is the catching of the two bolts in the rear arch which is simple to replace with either rivets or flat head/coach bolts

Never heard of chassis cracking either.
