    Tyre size on 17s

Hi guys, I've recently acquired a set of wheels for the 850, they're currently wearing 225 50s, and with 40mm springs I have a feeling they're going to rub. Also,I think they look a little too chunky on them, so tempted to drop to a 45 profile, and perhaps even go to a 215?
    Thoughts?

215/45 is right for your car mate. With 50 profile, I reckon they came off a S80

I'd go for 225/45/17s and fit spacers if they rub.

On the subject of tyres, what do you all run? I'm horrified how much the price jumps up when you get to 17's

    I'm running 205/40 17s, Yoko Parada Spec 2s.
A great tyre in the dry, superb even, but scary in the wet the first time. Aquaplanes like a bitch. They look good and are lasting quite well, I've lost about 1mm of tread off the fronts in 5000 miles.

Honestly, they really are good in the dry. They let go in a very progressive sort of way, you can feel it start to lose grip giving you time to adjust your driving accordingly but you have to be driving like a twonk for this to happen.

I had a look at Pradas but they're still a bit deer, I'm looking around £60-80 per tyre, which leaves me in Avon and Khumo (spelling) territory. Anyone had experience with those?

They're some good prices, I do like the look of the Spec 2's! I was looking on Camskill and they were more like £90!

Big fan of toyo's but I'd recommend maxis too, might be a mid range brand but I've had nothing but good experience from them.

I remember ears from the '90s, think it stood for Escort And Rally Sport, did loads of stuff for Fords.
