when you turn the engine off the brake pedal goes solid, I guess its got a air leak somewhere but where's the best place to look

It's supposed to do that. Hold your foot on the brake and start the engine... the pedal will slowly sink.

I know it should eventually but didn't think it was almost instantly?
With the engine off, you should be able to press it once then on the second press, it'll go rock hard (dependent on how hard you're pressing the pedal but you get the idea)

yeah thats what I thought, if I have my foot on the brake then turn the engine off the pedal actually pushes my foot back

Got an old discovery now.
Sounds like the one way valve needs replacing, as it's allowing the servo to return to atmospheric pressure once the engine's off.
