    TDI OBD2/lambda light

Well the lambda light just popped on in my 96 850 TDi....

What should I do now? I've heard that the OBD2 is hassle and not compatible with typical readers, so any advice would be much appreciated!

Vol-fcr is the software you need. You can get a trial/free version online then all you need is a suitable USB cable. But if your serious about keeping the car then I would suggest the full version, think it's £120. With this you can check all codes, abs, a/c etc not just the engine ones. You can also do the dynamic timing and view live data.

Probably missing the obvious but where can you get OBD port to USB cables if you don't have an eBay account as I bet that's where you would usually obtain them from..

    Ok, cool.

After a quick search I found this online which seems free.... (not installed it yet).
    http://s0ftpedia.pw/files/volvo%20fc...%20free&id=top

Any recommendations for what cable I should be buying? Is it just a simple OBDII to USB?
Think I've still got one from my old P38 Range Rover days...

Why would you need one vol/fcr, cables, hassle loading it, much easier just to use reader.

Thanks, but not near any of those places soon!

Anyone got a copy of the software I could have?

    Found a copy online here:
    https://labaia.in/torrent/4090699/Vo....6.Cracked.rar

Not plugged it in yet, but I'm fully expecting to be presented with a load of codes that mean nothing to me soon!

I've installed both the trial version from ilexa and a cracked version from the above torrent but I can get neither to connect.
"interface error check connections" is as far as I can get when I try and get codes from it.

Already changed the Port to 1, and I'm using a USB cable from my old P38a Range Rover which seems to also be an FTDI type.

    Any ideas?

You probably need to update the ftdi drivers.

Thinking about it none of these 'copied' versions usually work and you can never tell if there the USB or serial compatible one. My advice is if you plan on keeping the car, which I guess you do after all the work you've put in, then get your wallet out and pay for the full version from ilexa!
