    v70 dash clocks in an 850 t5

I fancy the idea of v70 phase one dash clocks in my `96 850 t5.
Are these plug and play or is there a mountain of modifications needed?
    any help much appreciated.......Jim

You need to remove the black box that plugs into the top of the clocks.

Then just plug in the 850 plugs

Here a photo when my 96 850 had std V70 clocks.

It looks much neater. You lose your factory boost gauge, but I dare say that isnt a big issue for most people.

It works ok, the car retain how many miles are on it as it can be extracted from the car, but not sure on p1s if clock mileage is displayed.

I used to plumb both my boost gauge in with a t-piece underneath, I hated a dead gauge.

The digital clocks retain whatever milage is recorded on them, when I changed my clocks on my R it magically went from 130k to 98..

ok these were the answers i was looking for, they look much neater and as long as i dont lose any functions from the dash display i wont be too fussed about the boost gauge as i have aftermarket fitted.....thanks guys

    I know it's an old thread....but i just did a conversion to s,v70 cluster to my '97 850 n/a(M.4.4 from the factory).
All works as it should,it's plug & play like you said...BUT...SRS light is NOT coming on on a bulb check when key is in pos.II...and with 70 series cluster i 'm getting SRS code 127 for SRS warning light OC or SC to ground.

I'm affraid that this SRS code could disable SRS system,so i put back the original cluster.
For those who run 70 series cluster into 850...
Do you have SRS light on bulb check with all other little lights?

Also can this SRS code for warning lamp prevent SRS system from working?

I don't think a code like that would stop the system from working, after all it is just a code about the warning lamp.

Also I'm guessing you checked the bulb?

Possible different pin-out on s,v70 cluster?
Or somebody messed with the cluster trying to mask SRS light?

However....i need to know for sure can this problem disable SRS system?

What about others who run s,v70 cluster into 850?
Do you have SRS light ON on bulb check?

    It's pinout difference.
The wiring on "B" connector for SRS light is different for 70 series cluster.
Wiring diagrams printed...we'll see if we can make it work.

In order to have properly working SRS warning light and no SRS 127 code stored in SRS system, you just need to add a wire from ignition switch(x-supply,yellow violet wire)to connector "B" on pin B5.
    B5 is spare in '96 & '97 850.

    That's all.
