There is a constant switched live on the light switch, I used it on my C70 for my boost gauge, if you want I can go and check what colour wire it is.
From the battery... !!!!

If you take the bottom panel off secured by a couple of torq screws under the wheel find a yellow connector, has quite a few cables to it and approx two inches long.
Within that connector is a permanent live on ignition only, same one I used to wire in a Blitz. Cant remember which pin but its an empty on and all it takes is connecting an earth and try one at a time.
Hope that helps
Arguing is pointless....she may not be right but she's never wrong

Normally, any yellow/yellow&black wire is a switched live.

This will end well.....

Connect it to the dash light dimmer switch on the live and the guage light will dim with the dash.....unless of course you want it bright all the time!
One wire from the gauge goes to a black wire on the switch, the other goes to a blue wire.
