Hi guys just wondering what tyre size I can put on my s70r it has comets and already has 205/45/17 on but I have a wheel of my old one and that's got 215/45/17 on should I look at sticking at one of these sizes or can I run a wider tyre cheers

you can run 215 45 17's but for looks and cos theyre cheaper id run 215 40 17's any wider and the fronts will rub on lock

    Fwd R's had 205/45
    Awd R's had 215/45
Both interchangeable & I had no rubbing issues on my awd R.

I run 215/45/17 on my comets without issue.

I had 225/45/17 on the last set and they were fine too except for a little rubbing of the rear wheel arch liners on full compression - that only happened on track though.

It might ride a bit hard with 40 series rubber? Thats why I put 215 45 17s on my FWD V70R.

(Biff - Never realised that was the std size for the R AWD though - are you sure about that? My owners manual says 205 45 17...)
    Currently - '96 850R auto

    Previously - '97 S70 T5 manual, '98 V70R AWD auto, '98 V70R Auto in Nautic Blue Mica with LPG (went to Germany!), 1996 850R Auto, lots of various 940s, 960s and a crappy 850 2.0

if you go to 205 40 17's you'll save alot of money

    eg
    205 40 17
    http://www.clickontyres.co.uk/premiu...FabLtAodBmoALg

    215 40 17
    http://www.clickontyres.co.uk/premiu...FUTkwgodbSMAbw

£15 a corner saving on something you wont notice on the road

Yes mate I went through all this when I needed 4 new tyres I searched & was shown by a few, maybe man & auto's required different sizes??
As frankie says I doubt you'd even notice.
