    Power upgrades for a '93 850 T5 manual

    Hi fellas.

This must surely be a question that you're bored of by now however, what can I do to get the most power from a T5 on a budget.

I've just bought it as a cheap hack for smoking round in and would love to get more power from it. I currently own a few other cars which soak up most of my disposable income so can't afford forged internals and monster turbos.

    Thanks in advance

    Ross

theres nothing wrong with manual boost control, as long as its set up right and not played with.

The engine bent a rod at 82k after I sold it, with an mbc on, for a new owner I don't think its worth the risk.

Have a look at oblarks build thread the technical update is in it saying about the updated rods, that and th fact the earlier cars were 304 maps 16psi and later cars 310 18psi, due it the turbo and rods.

Also in obarks thread he shows the 2 rods & theirs no difference

    304 or 310 has nothing to do with the 850, I thought it was 304 for 15g cars & 310 for 16t'd s/v70's

Ok so we're looking at the usual breathing suspects plus a bit more boost and a remap.

Why are we saying no to a bleed valve? Is it boost spike? I could always just adjust the actuator arm to reach my desired boost level couldn't i?

As for remaps, who is recommended? Ideally in the north and someone that can provide the most power for the least outlay.

    Thanks again

    Ross

The 850s can be prone to bending rods with poorly set up mbc.

Just look for a 2nd hand re mapped ECU and check its compatible first, hlm, rica or mte are usual maps will make around 16 psi

I had a bleed valve on my C70, and didn't have problems with boost spikes.

As far as I'm aware, the 304 is all 850's and the 310 is V70 P1.

Hello Ross, I think you are on the Turbo Renault forum, I'm on there also

Budget mods would be a remap & cat back! Possibly white injectors but that would depend on the advice from whoever is doing the map

No 310 was introduced for the 850r manual with improved rods and 16t
