hi jim, I don't think you can use the 2 button type.
there are actually 2 versions of the correct 850 one, 413 mhz, and 433mhz.
you normally use a remote tester to find out which as vida is not always accurate especially if it was fitted as an accessory kit.

From research that I did it seems the alarm with the glass sensor of the driver a pillar requires the bottom remote. I'm on the lookout for one.

My 96 850 has the sensor on the drivers side A pillar and did use the top remote until it stopped unlocking the car.

It would be interesting to see if a different remote could be used.

Im thinking maybe my car is an import or something and might be worth checking its VIN to find out where it was built as not all remotes/cars are compatible depending on market etc?........

there are 2 different types - 413mhz and 433mhz. you just have the wrong frequency.
you can tell this with a remote testing box or by chassis number on vida but it is only a guide as some were accessory fitted.
remote testing box is the best option.
