    P0305 missfire code

    Hi all
    As above had this code come up . Changed plugs but still no better, i cleared the code but it hasnt came back on altough the missfire is still there.could this be a coil pack starting to go

    Coil pack on cylinder 5 mate, I had the same problem. Try clearing the codes, swap the coil packs around and see if the code changes, the last number will change depending on the cylinder, so for example P0301 would be cylinder 1, P0302 would be cylinder 2 etc.

    Edit: If the coil pack is faulty, it will cause a misfire on whatever cylinder it's on. Once you've established that, then replace the coil pack and you're done. Some people will say replace them all but to be honest, get some second hand ones and then just change them as they fail. Not a big job, I did one at a Motorway services back in May.

    Just to clarify, cylinder 5 will be the one closest to the passenger side (nearside).

    Thaks mate are the coil packs the same on all the engine sizes or are t5 ones diffrent

    Not 100% sure on that one mate but if you contact Andy at Norfolk Volvo Spares, he's normally very reasonably priced and will send you the right ones for your car if you tell him what model and engine you have. NVS are a member on here but also there's a website for them.

    Genuine Volvo ones are an option but they are pricey at about £50 each.
