    newbie saying hello

    hi all,

I have just acquired a 1997 manual awd v70 (first time volvo owner) never though I would own a volvo lol.
past car history is rs turbo s1 , 4x4 cosworth. golf gti's and a saab viggen.

any way I needed a estate car for moving some stuff about and for the fishing gear and the v70 came up for sale at the right time , and im kinda liking it
had a mooch on on here and other fourms and read up about the pitfalls off owning one mine has its problems aswell

first off. is the 2 back boxes are shot had a search around and cant seem to find anywhere that sells them
considering having them made by local exhaust shop if the price is in the same ball park as standard replacements

second . is the abs trac light both of wich do not light up when the ignition is on had a look at the abs module and its been opened before the speedometer is also playing up aswell .

third .. is there is no if very little handbreak effort. previous owner said cable had snapped had a quick look under car and it seems all ok . are these inboard shoes.? i will be replacing the back pads next weekend so if they are inboards as good at as any to do them aswell.

    any advise greatly appreciated

Nice current car & nice previous ones also

Depending on where you are there will be loads of places to get an exhaust made up, need to be careful though you don't get something that drones, especially on an auto estate. Mine is a TME, a bit expensive unless you are keeping the car for a while

I think the handbrakes are not so good on our cars....

The ABS ECU might need changing out/repairing....I think Wobby Dave on here might do them? Not sure he is still doing it. A bit of reference here on them...
