How about one of these? GT2359v good for around 280bhp @ 1.8 bar

The Gt2359v is from the w210 3.2cdi upto 2002, and is not VNT buddy 2003 onwards s211 is vnt as has the Electronic actuator as i understand it.
Any garrett with a v on the end is a variable vain turbo

The new ones are electronic control but the older ones use a vacuum actuator to control the vains. The ecu controls the actuator but my ecu doesn't have that specific map. But the old egr map can be utilised to do the job. The only other down side is they are geared towards low end power and run out of puff up the Rev range. Unfortunately all modern diesels are like this, loads of power low down the just tail off! I've still got a healthy 300ft\lb at 4250 rpm

Cool thanks bud learnt summit there The Later Turbo on mine has electronic Actuator and around 418ft lbs as she's been mapped but at what rpm that is tbh i dont, std they have 370ft lbs between 1800-2600rpm
That's when it will be. Normally a big spike which looks good as a figure on paper but not on the road. The area under the torque line on my graphs is massive compared to newer 'high power' diesels, it's not all about peak power. I'm sure I could get mine to spike over 400 but my dmf wouldn't agree lol

Awesome looking bit of kit
All is not well
It would seem my head lifting incident has damaged the head gasket too much and it is now buggered lol, So head off time! I'm going to take advantage of the crappy situation and do some more modification. I have a fully reconditioned head on the way, new valves, seats, guides, re-face, springs, pressure tested etc etc.
Once I get it I'm sending it to Gardias Engine Services in Witney to start opening it up a bit. Hopefully with a bit of work on the head and a thicker gasket (maybe 2) I will be able to push the boost up a bit more, add more fuel, and get some more power.
I'm getting a little frustrated by all the things going wrong at the moment but modifying cars is never easy (or cheap) as we all know. But it will all turn out well in the en, I hope!

Very nice Martin... watching with interest. It'll be good to see the finished product.
Arguing is pointless....she may not be right but she's never wrong
Tell her a remap is just having your satnav updated.....

Looking good there Martin. Can't wait to see the end results if there is such a thing as an end to a project!!!!

That head looks luuurrrrvly!
Won't stay that clean for long though when you start making soot
I've got a nice list for my brother for when it's booked in, including finally sorting the saggy rear bumper! as the heads coming off we're doing all belts (again), port matching the manifolds, new coolant temp sensor, glow plugs etc etc. Basically all new stuff for a new head.
I'm not really going to up the power much more this year as I can't decide on which turbo to replace the inadequate 16t with. I will keep it to ~240 as that's the 16t's limit.
Then need to think about a maf-less tune as the maf is a huge restriction, so plenty to still get on with!

I think it looks lovely as it is.
Would be good if it could just be laquered??
Not sure on that one, would be good though and go well with the black rocker cover
Hmm heat proof lacquer, I'll start looking.
